Description
Ji Zhao is twenty-five, an eight-time world champion in the only sport that matters to him, and the closest thing his era has to a perfect fighting machine. Then a strange icon appears on his desktop, a pixel-art mirror, four characters beneath it, and the world starts running backwards. Reality degrades a stage at a time. Cars move in unison. Hospital clerks hold one flawless smile. People become figures on fixed paths, voiceless, repeating a single line. And on his screen, a crude black-and-white wuxia game grows sharper with every hour, feeding on everything the world loses. He is the last player left. To turn the mirror back he has to go inside, into the body of a sickly sixteen-year-old bastard son in a doomed county town, with the worst constitution in his family and a besieging army at the gates.
